Step 1: Material Selection & Sourcing
Every exceptional space begins with the right materials. We start by carefully sourcing high-quality timber, selecting pieces that showcase the best natural characteristics of the wood. Whether it’s the rich, accessible warmth of Meranti or the premium, structurally stunning grain of Tasmanian Oak, we select our timber for its stability, beauty, and suitability for architectural profiles.
Step 2: Hand-Sanding
Machine milling leaves behind micro-imperfections, which is why every single piece that passes through our workshop is meticulously hand-sanded. We work the surface to remove all machining marks, smoothing the grain until it is exceptionally tactile and smooth. This labour-intensive step is the secret to a genuinely bespoke finish that mass-produced trims simply cannot replicate.
Step 3: Varnishing & Curing
With the timber perfectly smooth, we apply our premium varnishes to seal and protect the wood. This hand-finished coating does more than just safeguard the timber against daily wear; it draws out the rich, natural tones and deepens the character of the grain. The trims are then left to cure in a controlled environment, ensuring a hard-wearing, flawless surface.
Step 4: Quality Assurance & Site Delivery
Before any timber leaves our workshop, it undergoes a final visual and tactile inspection. We ensure the colour, finish, and profile are as specified. The trims are then carefully packed and made ready for handover—delivering a premium, pre-finished architectural detail straight to your site, completely ready for installation.
Note that we do not offer installation services for our trims, but we have comprehensive Product Disclosure Statements (PDS) available for our products to streamline your specification process upon request.

While our foundation lies in architectural mouldings, our passion for natural wood extends to the broader details of your space. To seamlessly complement our architraves and skirting, Studio Trims also supplies custom floating timber shelving and tabletops.
Available in a variety of premium timber species, our floating shelves receive the exact same artisan treatment as our trims. Each shelf is cut to your project’s specific dimensions, meticulously hand-sanded to a flawless finish, and expertly varnished to seal and protect the natural grain.
